SMETHPORT - The Brookville Junior Wrestling program will send 19 wrestlers to this weekend's Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Championship held at Tullio Arena in Erie. Brookville crowned 12 champions at the Area 5 Tournament in Smethport last weekend. Seven others finished second. A top-two finish in the 10-and-under, 11-and-12, and 13-and-14-year-old divisions clinched a state berth. Five wrestlers won titles in the 10-and-under division: Cabe Park (50 pounds), Gavin Park (55), Keelan Kunselman (60), Cole Aaron (70) and Noah Cieleski (90). Two finished second: Kai Sorbin (50) and Zak Gilbert (65). In the 11-and-12 division, Taylor Ortz (70) and Jonah Sampson (135) won their weight classes while Jimmie Miller (95) also advanced to states with a second-place finish. A very strong 13-and-14 contingent punched nine tickets to states as Brock Zacherl (102), Brodie Zacherl (117), Dylan Zimmerman (132), Derek Shattenberg (147) and Logan Stout (heavyweight) won titles. Also advancing with runner-up finishes were Zach Vroman (107), Brett Smith (112), Taylor Cudworth (140) and Brian Crissman (167). Two Brookville wrestlers reached the 8-and-under division's 70-pound finals. Caleb Hetrick defeated Tucker Wolfe to win the weight class, but the 8-and-under division does not compete at the state level. Action Friday gets under way at 9 a.m. with the tournament continuing through Saturday night's finals that begin at 5:30 p.m. with the 10-and-under division finals.
